Vancouver Hospice Care

Nearing the end of one’s life can be one of the most difficult and stressful times anyone can go through. It is often a time of great uncertainty and a wide range of emotions. We understand how hard this time can be and our compassionate staff at Magnolia Gardens are here so you don’t have to walk this path alone. We are here for ongoing support, encouragement, and care during this difficult time.

Hospice care is medical care offered to those with terminal illnesses to help manage pain and other symptoms related to their condition with the aim to increase their quality of life. It is often an option considered for advanced stages of cancer, chronic diseases, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, severe strokes, pulmonary disease, among others.

A team of qualified, caring hospice professionals address physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of both the dying individual and their loved ones. The hospice care is brought right to the patient in our Vancouver assisted living facility. Here, family and friends can support (and be supported by) the hospice care team and our staff at Magnolia to make the remaining days of your loved one’s life peaceful and as easy as possible.

Do you have a loved one in need of hospice care in Vancouver?

We would be happy to answer any of your questions about end-of-life care in our beautiful assisted living home.

When Should Hospice Care Begin?

Hospice care is provided when a disease or condition (such as cancer) gets to a point where treatment can no longer control or cure it. Hospice care normally starts when someone is given about 6 months to live with how their condition is progressing.

Oftentimes, hospice isn’t started soon enough. There is a thought that if someone begins hospice care, there is no hope or that they are “giving up.” But that is not the case. Hospice care focuses on quality of life in end of life circumstances, but active cancer treatment can be started and hospice care can be left at any time! What is most important is ensuring that each day is as comfortable as possible, no matter what the end result may be.

Vancouver hospice care can be provided at Magnolia Gardens Senior Care home. We are here to support the family, as well as the hospice team, to ensure comfort and quality care is being provided for your loved one as they live out the rest of their days.

What Does Hospice Care in Vancouver Provide?

Symptom Control

As part of hospice care, a hospice team will look at how the cancer or disease is affecting your loved one in order to help relieve or alleviate symptoms, pain, and stress. Together, we can help look for the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs that can be addressed. Whatever the need, we are all there to make sure your loved one is as comfortable as possible so they can be present and enjoy the last stage of their life.

Family Meetings

Family is an important part of this journey. Meetings will be regularly scheduled with family to keep everyone together and updated on progress. This is a great time to support your loved one as they approach the end of their life, think back on fond memories, and make preparations.

Spiritual Care

Vancouver hospice care will also meet the spiritual needs for your loved one. Whatever faith or belief system, spiritual needs will be prioritized and arranged.

Coordination of Care

The hospice team supervises care 24/7 and will coordinate care with the staff here at Magnolia Gardens. There will always be someone at your side to help you, day or night. Hospice care assures that you are never alone and will be your advocate for anything you need.
